On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, at the invitation of the Lebanese – Palestinian Right to Work Campaign Coalition, Palestinian researcher Fathi Kulaib lectured on “Human Rights of Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon” at the Lebanese International University (LIU) Saida with the presence of the academic director of the university, Ahmed El-Haj, director of the Youth Institute for Development in Saida, Adnan Nofal, the coordinator of the right to work campaign in Saida Khaled Abu Sweid, and a number of faculty members and representatives of student organizations and youth and university students.

Mr. Kulaib began his speech by reviewing the conditions that led to November 29 a global day of solidarity with the Palestinian people and their national rights. “This day came within the framework of a series of political victories achieved by the Palestinian revolution and as a result of the great sacrifices made by the Palestinian people which resulted in an international interaction.

He pointed out that the policy of preventing the Palestinians from the right to work had siege the graduates who have university degrees and needs to find jobs in the market which doesn’t receive the Palestinians and prevent ownership and punitive measures that produced only unemployment and diseases.

He pointed out that the issue of the human rights of the Palestinian people in Lebanon is no longer tolerated and initiating any discussions and interpretations from here and there is not accepted.  The economic and social conditions reached a dangerous level, the continuation of such status will lead to dangerous situation in the Palestinian society as a whole. At the end of the lecture, the University administration was honored and a shield was given to them which was received by Professor Ahmed Al-Haj and participated in the honoring event Mr. Adnan Nofal.

On the occasion of the International Solidarity Day with Palestinian People, the Lebanese – Palestinian Right to Work Campaign Coalition held a solidarity stand at the Institute with the participation of students, teachers and the administration of the Institute.

Mr. Hussein Khalifa, Director of the Al-Afak Institute, said that the solidarity with the Palestinian refugees and their suffering, especially the work and the discriminatory laws imposed on them, was emphasized. He stressed the unity of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and the full support of the refugees.

The Lebanese – Palestinian Right to Work Campaign Coalition’s speech presented by the coordinator of the RTW campaign in the Tyre Miss Laila Mousa, which confirmed that this day is an occasion for solidarity with us as a Palestinian people, pointing out that the United Nations by announcing on 29 November day as solidarity with the Palestinian people to emphasize the responsibility of the international community at political, moral and legal regarding Nakba Day for Palestinian people, which was accompanied by the resolution of partition No. 181, which divided Palestine into two states.

Miss Moussa asked the Lebanese authorities to lift restrictions on the right to work to let Palestinian people live in dignity and helps ensure the foundations of persistence until return back to Palestine, stressing that work is right and return is a right, and the Palestinian people will not compromise and give up those two rights.

On behalf of the coalition, Miss Moussa called on the international community to hold its responsibilities by realizing the right and end the occupation and return back to Palestine, which is occupied under the sight of the world.

Miss Moussa also thanked the director, students and students of Al Afak Institute for their solidarity with the Palestinian cause on this occasion.

The Women’s Rights Program organized an interactive meeting at Al-Jormok Secondary School in Saadnayel  on the occasion of The “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence”, under the slogan ” Make #her #special #but #do #not #discriminate #her”.

The “16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence” is an international campaign originating from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991. Participants chose the dates November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and December 10, International Human Rights Day, in order to symbolically emphasize that violence against women is a human rights violation.

On the occasion of The “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence”, The Women’s Rights Program in Burj Al-Barajneh camp and in collaboration with the Child Protection Network, organized an open day at UNRWA’s  Al-Jalil School under the slogan of “ #Make #her #special #but #do #not #discriminate #her”.

The activity included art shows performed by group of students and short Sketch which done by Najdeh’s volunteer and psychologist, in addition to the games and collective drawing were implemented to express their opinions.

Under the title “From generation to generation… we will definitely return”, and in a gathering, that is a first in its kind in Lebanon since Nakba, gathered the first generation of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon from all refugee camps. In the international day for solidarity with Palestinian people, holding to the right of return and destiny determination, and in support to Palestinian struggles against the occupation in hopes for their freedom against the continuous attempts to end the case and pass the deal of the century, for  all that, Association Najdeh organized an open day on Tuesday 27-November in Sidon- Khan EL Firanj.

The day started with a speech from Association Najdeh’s CEo, who insisted through her speech that the official leadership should learn from the first generation’s, of Palestinian refugees, experiments, pointing out to the fact that after 70 years of forced migration and they did not give up on their keys and ownership papers yet, and after 70 years of human rights deprivation not once did they think about giving up their rights, or giving up on Palestine that they re-build in refugee camps, re-naming camp alleys  same names as the villages and towns no one can take out of their hearts.

Mr. Hussein Daraj, gave a speech on behalf of the elderly, through which he thanked Association Najdeh for reviving this occasion which aims at preserving the Palestinian nationality, pointing out that Najdeh gave and will keep on giving a lot of Palestinians.

On his part, Mr. Majed Hamto gave a speech on behalf of “Civil organization’s Union in Sidon”, he confirmed on that real solidarity with Palestinian people is through serious reconsideration, from the international community represented through United Nations, to the decision of founding the occupation entity, and admitting its historical mistake, and the attendance of first generation of Palestinian refugees is a strong message to all those attempts.

After the speeches we heard live testaments for the first Nakaba generation, on their forced migration and refugee experiments, their memories and daily lives in Palestine before being evicted, elderly also gave information on Palestinian villages and cities, important events that took place, and what each is famous for.

The day also included, a variety of traditional and national songs performed by Ammar Hassan, which received an amazing interaction from the audience which insure how persistent and  committed the Palestinians are to their cause, the right of return, and the Al-Qudos is Palestine’s eternal capital.

Another set of Palestinian songs were performed by the young singer Abed Halawani, who reflected the young generation’s commitment to the Palestinian cause and traditions.

Show casing Palestinian traditions a group of elderly and AL Bayadir band, gave multiple dabki performances on the tune of traditional Palestinian songs.

On The occasion of the 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE, Women’s Rights Program and under the slogan #make_her_special_but_do_not_discriminate_her organized a March and solidarity Point at Shatella and Borj-El Barajneh camps. During the solidarity points activity the Team of Women’s Rights Program asked the people to write supporting quotes about women rights.

An open day in Saadnial and Bar Elias Within “Badael” Project

As a part of the Building Alternative Development Assets and Entrepreneurial Learning (Badael) project association Najdeh organized an open day in Saadnayel and BarElias in order to follow up inquiries and help the beneficiaries to submit applications containing ideas for projects and to fill the form online.

BADAEL is a project funded by EU Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syria Crisis (MADAD). Its main objective is to contribute to promoting social stability and community resilience to countering the socio-economic drivers of radicalization among vulnerable communities hosting refugees in North Lebanon and Bekaa  Governorate.

This project is implemented by Oxfam, Beyond Reform and Development (BRD), and two local NGOs: Utopia for Social Justice and Association Najdeh; and is a part of the “Regional Resilience & Local development Program for Syrian refugees and host communities”.

Workshop about Supporting and Empowering Women to Participate in Political and Public Life

Association Najdeh organized a training workshop in Beirut  about the involvement of men in supporting and empowering women to participate in political and public life with the support and funding of the Norwegian People’s Aid and within the activities of the woman can do it.

The training included several topics, including women’s rights, the concept of gender, political participation and advocacy.

Round-Table about the Rights and Duties of the Palestinian Workers and the Amendments Issued by the Ministry of Labor

Lebanese – Palestinian Coalition for Right to Work for Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon Campaign, in coordination with the Legal Aid Department at UNRWA, organized a round-table on the rights and duties of the Palestinian workers and the amendments issued by the Ministry of Labor. Members of the coalition at Saida participated in the round-table that was facilitated by the lawyer Carol Mansour.

The topics raised during the dialogue table focused on the rights and duties of the Palestinian workers and the amendments issued by the Ministry of Labor (2005) and the Lebanese Parliament (2010) towards the Palestinian refugees.

It was emphasized during the discussions that the dialogue with the free trade unions should be opened in order to amend the laws and regulations that prevent the Palestinians from joining and practicing their professions.

During the discussions, it was noted that it is important to approach the next minister of labor in the next government to amend all laws and cancel all measures that would deprive the Palestinian refugees from working to alleviate their economic and social suffering until they return to Palestine.
